Get Involved

Getting Involved is Simple

A Place to Belong

People have two ways to get involved here at Mexico UMC, both important in terms of making disciples. There are opportunities to learn about your in faith – worship services and Sunday morning messages of God’s word for today, bible studies, Sunday school classes, groups of various kinds. There are opportunities to experience and grow in your faith by putting it into practice. We learn as we serve.

People who follow Jesus give their lives away to serve others. Jesus did that, so should those who follow Him. We want to follow Jesus, and we encourage and challenge one another to give our lives to things that matter now and forever.

Opportunities to Get Involved

As a faith-based partner to McMillan Early Learning Center, Mexico UMC is part of Mexico’s Bright Futures affiliate community working to directly support the basic needs of children in the Mexico area by bringing together existing resources.  We are actively involved with the students and the teachers.  As a church, we are also actively involved in the Lunch Buddy program in all of the schools.

The Community Health Ministry Team is a multi-denominational faith based group striving to improve the health of our community through education, preventative care activities, personal example, and direct service to all.

Two current missions which we are currently the host-group for include the annual Back To School Health Fair that provides at no charge basic health care screenings along with school supplies for all students, as well as the elementary school walking programs.

James Circle is a women’s group which meets monthly in March through November on the second Sunday at 9:00 a.m. to provide spiritual growth through involvement in service to local and global missions and ongoing fellowship with one another. Our mission is to be faithful to God and each other. We serve hoping to open the hearts of others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The Nurture and Outreach Team promotes several mission-events each year, including:

  • The Annual Spring Salad Luncheon
  • Recognition of our congregation’s college students each spring and fall
  • Recognition events for Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day
  • Supporting the Festival of Sharing event each October

Let us hear from you.  Our team provides an opportunity to use your gifts and graces for the building up of the body of Christ.

Our Seniors Lunch Group is for those aged 60 and over.   As a vibrant and vital part of who we are as a church, we encourage our seniors to never cease in seeking God’s will.  We offer fellowship opportunities, encourage the continuation of learning through classes, and provide opportunities to reach out to others in your community.  The primary purpose of this lunch is fellowship which forges relationships which can live into this vision for our church.  We meet for lunch in the Fellowship Hall of the church at noon on the third Thursday of each month.  Please join us.

Senior Pastor

One of the statements made by John Wesley, co-founder of the Methodist movement along with his brother Charles, resonates with me as the lead pastor of this church. When the bishop of Bristol objected to the time Wesley was spending in ministry outside of his parish, Wesley’s response was “The world is my parish.” While committed to caring for the people of my appointed church, I am also committed to the people outside of these walls. Toward that end, I’m committed to serving the community out in the community as well as within my church. The world is my parish as well.
